Deb Trand’s expertise is in management, sales, finance and marketing. Prior to becoming a Realtor, she worked with a local developer here in Fernie for about 14 years as his sales and marketing manager and successfully marketed and sold over 300 properties. She also worked for a couple of years as a Sub-Mortgage Broker where she pre-qualified and qualified mortgages on behalf of business or individuals. She is a skilled and creative individual who has a positive attitude and will strive to achieve success for any task that she is responsible for. She has considerable customer service experience which has made her a highly efficient communicator who enjoys working with people.
Deb Trand grew up in the small town of Deep River, Ontario with a population similar to Fernie, BC and with many similar recreational opportunities that she keenly participated in. Her summers were spent sailing, playing tennis and cooling off in the river. In the winters she spent her time skating on the river, competitive swimming at the pool and ski racing every weekend with travel to many of the valley’s ski hills. This experience helped her compete at the World Telemark ski championships in Whistler in later years. After travelling and working around the world for 4 years with her fiance (at the time), visiting such countries as England, Scotland, France, Nepal, Thialand, Singapore, Indonsia, Australia and New Zealand they were drawn to the mountains and set themselves up in Calgary, Alberta. However, it was after spending four winters of weekend driving to Fernie for those “powder days” at the ski resort and then only one visit during the summer to see how spectacular the recreation and community was in Fernie, that they picked up all their belongings and have made Fernie their home for the past 22 years. Now with 2 children, Deb Trand is involved in child community activities and is continually amazed at how fabulous the Elk Valley area is.
Deb Trand is a passionate alpine, cross country and back country skier in the winter and mountain biker and trail runner in the summer. She also enjoys white water paddling, camping and swimming with family.
